Emergency Bee Removal in Southern California

Bees inside the house, near a door, or someone allergic? Call now.

Call or text (626) 487-6052. We’re open 24 hours Monday through Saturday, and same-day visits are often possible across Orange County, the Inland Empire and Los Angeles County.

When bees are an emergency

Most bees are not an emergency. A swarm resting on a branch is usually calm and often leaves on its own within a day or two. Call right away if:

  • Someone in the home has a severe allergy to bee stings
  • Bees are coming into the living space, through vents, light fixtures or outlets
  • A colony is next to a door, walkway, pool, play area or business entrance that people can’t avoid
  • Bees are acting defensive: bumping into people, following them or stinging
  • Bees are swarming around a school, daycare, apartment breezeway or loading dock

If anyone has been stung and is having trouble breathing, swelling of the face or throat, or feels faint, call 911 first. Bee removal comes after medical help.

What to do while you wait

  • Keep people and pets away from the bees and close nearby doors and windows.
  • Don’t spray the bees, hose them down, or try to block the entrance. That makes the colony defensive and can trap bees inside the wall, where the comb and honey will rot.
  • Don’t run lawn mowers, leaf blowers or power tools near the hive.
  • If you can do it safely from a distance, take a photo or short video of where the bees are going in and text it to (626) 487-6052.

How an emergency removal works

Eli is a beekeeper, not an exterminator. On an emergency call, the first job is making the area safe: calming the bees and setting up so nobody else gets stung. Then the colony is removed alive, the honeycomb comes out, and the entry point is sealed so a new swarm isn’t drawn back. For a swarm out in the open, that’s often one visit. A hive built into a wall or roof is a full bee hive removal, and the bees go to a vetted local beekeeper through our bee relocation service.

Wasp and yellow jacket nests near people are handled too. See yellow jacket removal and wasp removal.

Hours and Sundays

Emergency removals are available 24 hours a day, Monday through Saturday. On Sundays we still answer calls and texts and can walk you through keeping everyone safe, but removals are scheduled for Monday.

Emergency bee removal cost

The inspection is free, and you’ll know the price before any work starts. A swarm removal is $250, and a structural removal from a wall, roof or chimney typically runs $375 to $1,000 depending on access and how much has to be opened and sealed. More on what goes into bee removal cost.

Emergency bee removal questions

Do you offer 24-hour emergency bee removal?

Yes, Monday through Saturday we’re open 24 hours. On Sundays we answer calls and texts, and removals are scheduled for Monday.

Someone in my house is allergic to bees. What should I do?

Keep them indoors and away from the bees, and call (626) 487-6052 right away so the job can be prioritized. If they’ve been stung and have trouble breathing or swelling in the face or throat, call 911 first.

Will you kill the bees in an emergency?

No. Even on emergency calls, honey bees are removed alive and relocated to vetted local beekeepers. No poison is used on honey bees.

Should I spray the bees myself?

No. Spraying makes the colony defensive, often doesn’t reach the comb, and leaves dead bees and honey inside the wall to rot and attract the next swarm.

Is emergency bee removal free?

No. The inspection is free, but a proper live removal takes time, fuel, equipment and liability. A swarm removal is $250, and you’ll get the price before any work starts.
