100-Pound Bee Swarm at Kaiser Permanente, Riverside, CA
What happened on this job
The biggest swarm of my career: about 100 pounds of honey bees in a tree by the parking structure at Kaiser Permanente in Riverside, hanging all the way down to the ground. The bees were calm, and with smoke I guided them into five full bee boxes. Nobody got hurt, which mattered at a hospital entrance.
Like every job, this was a live removal with no pesticides: the bees and all the comb came out, the colony went to a beekeeper, and the entry point was sealed so bees don't move back in.
